FC Puma Soccer Academy and Winter Skills Academy FC Puma Winter 2010 Application FC Puma Winter 2010 Health Release FC Puma Soccer Academy enjoyed a very successful Winter Skills Academy in 2009. We received numerous compliments from the 120 kids and their parents who attended last years winter programs. Now in our 7th year I am very excited to extend this opportunity to the soccer community once again. Please forward this information on to players, friends, and team administers who might be interested.
NEFC web site is launched...Please visit www.nefc.us/ for all future information. Note: The FC Puma web site will now be used exclusively for information regarding Christian Battaglia's Puma Summer Camp and his Puma Academy Winter Training. I would like to thank all of the players, parents and coaches who have worked hard over the past 10 years to develop FC Puma into a top level Premier Soccer Club. I would also like to thank all of the players, parents and coaches who have decided to join our new NEFC club. Paul Whittier, Christian Battaglia and I are excited with the recent merger with the New England Eagles to form NEFC. All of us will be working hard to develop NEFC into the top Premier Soccer Club in New England. Merger News Announcements: June 1, 2009 News Announcement: As previously announced, in addition to merging with FC Puma, NEFC is geographically expanding into the South Shore of Massachusetts. We are very pleased to announce the appointment of additional staff to run the South Shore region. Effective immediately Brendon Boates has accepted the position of Academy Director South Shore, Patrick Marino has accepted the position of Satellite Director, and Cory Kinsella has accepted the position of Staff Coach. Brendon joins NEFC after spending the past 7 years as a Staff Coach & Junior Academy Director for Scorpions SC. Prior to that Brendon was the Men’s Assistant Coach at Bridgewater State College and was a Rhode Island State ODP Head Coach. He played at Springfield College and holds a NSCAA National Diploma. Pat Marino has been with the Scorpions SC for the past 4 years as a Staff Coach and most recently as the Director of the Scorpions SC South. Prior to working for the Scorpions, Pat was an Assistant Coach at Tufts College and before that was a former professional player with the USISL League. Cory Kinsella has been the head coach at Pine Manor for the past 3 years. Prior to that she was the Head Coach at Wheelock College. She was also Assistant Coach at Lesley University and Union College where she played in college. Cory holds a NSCAA license. All tryouts for the South Shore teams/Academy will be held in Canton. Please see the South Shore Tryout Section of our website for details. May 13, 2009, The New England Eagles FC and FC PUMA are pleased to announce that the two clubs have agreed to merge. As of June 8, 2009, the new club will officially compete under the name New England FC, “NEFC”, effective with Board ratification. NEFC is also pleased to announce that in addition to the current Youth Academy (U6-U10 players) in central Massachusetts we are expanding into the greater metro-west area and the South Shore of Massachusetts. NEFC will be the largest premier youth soccer club in New England with over 700 players and more than 40 boys and girls teams U10-U19, with multiple teams in almost every age category. This means that soccer players aged 6-19 will be able to develop “under one roof” with a distinguished coaching staff and quality training facilities. NEFC seeks to change the way soccer is approached in New England. The nature of soccer in our region, with over 100 clubs in Massachusetts alone, often requires players to constantly change clubs as they develop and want to play at a higher level. Having a club of this scope in New England will allow serious players to grow and develop in an appropriately competitive environment. “This powerful merger creates an exciting time for both organizations and competitive players in the area. This merger is designed with the best interests of the game and the players. NEFC will have the most prestigious coaching staff in the region, with over 30 professional/college coaches.” said Ed Kelly, Coaching Coordinator of Boys coaching for the New England Eagles FC. Mr. Kelly is the Head Coach for Men’s Soccer at Boston College. “This merger is an opportunity for two well established soccer clubs to join together to create something special. By combining the professional coaches, quality teams, and state of the art indoor and outdoor training facilities NEFC will change the landscape of premier soccer in New England. It was natural that we would look beyond being competitors to becoming partners.” stated Dave Teggart, President FC PUMA. The club is proud to be affiliated with both Forekicks Sports Complexes located in Marlboro and Norfolk in addition to training on two turf fields in Holliston. With the merger the club will have a greater geographic reach with training facilities in Berlin, Braintree, Hudson, Marlboro, Millis, Norfolk, & Northboro. NEFC will train throughout metro-west and central Massachusetts, which will allow for convenient accessibility for the serious soccer player. NEFC will also have an extensive youth academy program for players aged 6 to 10 run by former professional and college coaches. We expect to have over 200 players in our rapidly growing youth academy with training in close proximity to players’ neighborhoods. The New England Eagles FC was founded in 1992 as Tri-Valley United, “TVU”. In 2002, the club merged with the Eagles and changed its name to The Tri-Valley Eagles, “TVE”. In 2006, TVE merged once again with Spirit of Massachusetts and for the last three years has been named the New England Eagles FC. The New England Eagles FC has grown to over 25 teams with over 120 players in the youth academy program. The New England Eagles FC is a non-for-profit 501(C)(3) organization. Dave Teggart and the current Vice President of Soccer Operations Paul Whittier founded FC Puma 11 years ago. Since its founding FC PUMA has grown to 17 boys and girls Maple teams competing in the age group U10-U18. FC PUMA is also non-for profit 501(C)(3) organization. Dave Teggart will assume the role of VP on the NEFC Board. “With over 40 competitive Region 1, Sub-region 1 & Maple teams, professional coaching, state of the art facilities, and a well integrated youth academy program in three geographic areas NEFC provides a challenging soccer environment where players can grow and succeed.” stated Brian Mazar, President, NEFC.
