GU11 FALL 2005

F05 Week 9 Game Stats

Now in a dead tie with Hamlets going into the final game of the season,
the girls knew they needed a win with as many goals as possible. Facing
Greater Boston, we came out a bit flat playing against the wind and
overcast conditions for the entire 1st half. Score at half was 0-0 with
many chances for both clubs. Finally Puma broke the ice with an
aggressive finish from Marialena Boike ( 2 goals on the day ). Running
with the wind and laying on the pressure in the 2nd half, the girls
played well, setting up chance after chance but shooting wide on many.
Julie Shamgochian was finally rewarded with a nice finish out front on a
cross into the box from her teammates. Final score 3-0 Puma to end the
season!

F05 Week 8 Game Stats

Playing the Aztec's, Puma needed a big win to catch up on goal
differential against their rival's the Hamlets. About 15 minutes into
the first half Marialena Boike struck pay dirt with a lefty rocket into
the upper corner of the net breaking the ice for Puma! Not to be
outdone, the Aztec's fought back and delivered the tying blow on a nice
pass back out front from the baseline for a one time shot. Less than 5
minutes later Meg McKinley followed up on a hard shot which the Aztec
goalie failed to gather and hammered home the rebound, 2-1 Puma! Jade
Curley then scored a brilliant solo goal and Marialena Boike added 2
more sensational finishes for a 5-1 Puma win!

Both clubs record were 4-1 going into today's match-up.
Attacking out of a 4-4-2 , the girls struck first on a nice lefty finish from Marialena Boike!
Defensively, we didn't allow a shot on net, thanks to some terrific work in the back by the "SF", as the girls like to refer to themselves...the Southboro Four.
Andrea Bacon, Megan McKinley, Natalie Benjamin, Devinne Aquadro and Elisabeth Peterleitner had some solid contribution in offense and midfield, to secure today's 1-0 victory! Great teamwork girls!

F05-Week Five Game Stats

Puma played away this week under the lights at Bowden Fields. Both
teams looking to distance themselves from one another in the standings
this Fall. Each club showed why they are tops within their division, as the play
was both tactically and technically sound. Puma almost struck first when Maddy Ojerholm broke through the Hamlet defense for a run at the Hamlets net, only to have her shot sail wide! Both teams played tenacious defense, but none more outstanding than Puma's swarming defensive efforts by the entire team once possession was lost.
Lucy LeBlond came up big on a few superb saves, earning 'Player of the
Game' accolades while keeping the defensive back four confident!
The game ended in a 0-0 draw.
