WEEK 9

Well, we had the opportunity to truly distance ourselves from the pack in our final game but came up short in the pouring rain. All season I haven’t called out too many players for exceptional efforts, but this week Maddy Ojerholm gets the nod for a great effort on both sides of the ball. (Offensively and defensively) Finishing up 4-3-2 we are all aware that we are a more talented team than what we showed in our final fall record.

It is very important that we become razor sharp in training this winter. Our focus needs to be on first touches, quicker decision making, and releasing the ball accurately to teammates. I truly look forward to us bringing our game to the next level this spring.

Thanks for an enjoyable fall season!

Coach Jimmy

WEEK 8

Nice effort by the girls this weekend. Puma took a half to wake up, but when they did, the fireworks started early and often in the 2nd half. A few minor field adjustments and a brief coaching discussion about desire and passion, and the scoring flood gates opened up! Better execution and wide attack created gaps between the Stars back 4 and we took full advantage. The girls showed better anticipation, but our first touches are still very weak. Congratulations on a great win girls! We now sit at 4-2-2 with one to play.

WEEK 7

Playing Nova down in Rehoboth, the day brought high winds and cool playing conditions against the undefeated team in our bracket. Nova’s record sitting at 5-0-1, Puma at 3-2-1. We started strong with a quick goal, pinning Nova in their end with some spirited play. We had numerous chances early on, but credit Nova with some nice defensive efforts. The girls moved the ball well, showing passion and determination to keep the game in our favor! In the end, the game ended up a draw 2-2 and a well earned point for the kids along with new found confidence on the field.

WEEK 6

I am not pleased with our efforts today. Maintaining possession for more than 85% of today’s game, we failed to finish in the final 3rd. I take full responsibility as coach. As a team we need to release the ball quicker and serve it out away from the opposing keeper, and listen for our teammates who are calling for support. We need to attack the entire end line and cross the ball into the box more efficiently. With 3 to play, we need to be more focused on finishing and taking shots at goal! Currently we are 3-2-1 on the season.

WEEK 5

Playing Unity Wildcats in Hudson this week, the Puma girls played a very inspired game of soccer. Lady luck didn’t shine on us however, and we took a very hard loss on a questionable PK called against us. The girls fought back against a kick and run team, settling and building up well, but we just could not find the back of the net this week. The girls had 8-10 quality scoring opportunities that didn’t find the mark. There was some excellent decision making on the field, but as a group we need to continue to work on faster play and quicker attacks into the final 3rd.

WEEK 4

Rain rain go away…playing Metro Black Magic (2-0-1) on a rain soaked day in Hudson, the girls brought it today! Attacking well early on, everyone contributed to a quality game of soccer. I noticed better communication and more combination play by the girls. Stronger recognition of switching fields and more quality shooting opportunities today too! I am encouraged by what I saw! Speed of execution is still a top priority. We need quicker build up and support from all our players off the ball; however that vision is starting to come for the kids. We need to work hard on our transition game, recognizing when to flip the switch from offensive thinking and defensive thinking! Hats off to Chloe Lee and Andrea Bacon for stepping up in goal this week! As of today, Puma now sits at 3-0-1.

WEEK 3

This week saw Puma verse Greater Boston Bolts. Knowing this was going to be a pretty evenly matched game, we expected a good challenge and got one. Both teams didn’t have too many chances to create a lot of offense; however, both teams showed some solid defending! Yet to concede a goal, we played well in the back, but lacked a bit of communication at times. A nice job by Devinne Aquadro in goal during the 2nd half kept the score locked at 0-0 for the final.

As of today, Puma now sits at 2-0-1 within the Green Division.

WEEK 2

This week we went up to Merrimack and played the SF Vikings. Coming off a Week One win, we wanted to keep the momentum going! Puma took an early lead after the first 15 minutes and never looked back. Stronger combination play by some of the girls led to two nice goals! Communication was a bit better, and it was encouraging to see more determination though the midfield. Overlapping and relief of pressure to negative help was better this week. We started to switch the field a bit quicker and showed beginning signs of fullbacks eager to overlap into the midfield! Final score was 3-0 Puma!

WEEK 1

Puma opened up with a solid effort against SS Select this weekend for a
4-0 win.Tactically we showed some nice depth and width, attacking well from
midfield forward.Hats off to many players for their tenacity, but a special well done to
Jade Curley with her midfield decision making.

Speed of execution was better, but far from what the girls can truly
expect as they grow together!Occasionally the girls explored the use of give and go's andoverlapping. Greater communication and recognizing the opportunity to exploit
defenses with these combinations will allow the kids more opportunities to attack freely at goal.

I was very proud of the girls first effort of the season!
